In my opinion the Dropbox app for Windows 8, at this time, is just a companion and not a replacement for the Windows desktop application.

The problem is that the app lacks of many essentials features that users are already used to, such as the ability to create folders, upload files right from the app, refresh and change views like you can do using the Microsoft’s SkyDrive app - and goes without saying that the Microsoft’s cloud storage solution has a deeper integration with Windows desktop even though it still in the early stages. The app has many basic features, you can browse and preview all your documents stored in the service, and you can even share those files (documents, photos or folders) using the Share’s charm in Windows 8. The cloud storage service just released its first official app in the Windows Store, but does it live up to the users expectations? Good news for Dropbox users who already made the move to Windows 8.
